“Sulfidation Technology for Competitive Materials Separation”
Because higher-grade ore has been mostly depleted from modern mines, leaving only rocks with much lower amounts of metal, more material needs to be processed to extract those metals. These extraction processes are expensive and environmentally unfriendly, but Caspar has found a way to decarbonize the process while reducing costs using sulfidation, a process which allows for physical separation or selective reduction in place of tedious chemical separations.
With support from the Kavanaugh Fellowship, Caspar is working to bring his innovation from the laboratory to the marketplace by identifying possible markets and continuing to scale up his sulfidation process.
